In Russland wird jetzt auch das Punk-Gebet der Band Pussy Riot zensiert. Ein Moskauer Gericht ordnete an, dass das Video „extremistisch“ sei und damit im Internet nicht zugänglich sein darf. Provider riskieren Geldstrafen, wenn sie sich nicht daran halten, auch YouTube will das Video in Russland sperren.
Die Entscheidung ist zwar schon von Ende November, aber zu wichtig, unerwähnt zu bleiben. Die russische Agentur für internationale Informationen berichtet:
Russian Internet providers will be required to block access to the video once the three-day appeal period expires. Under Russian law, providers who host forbidden content are subject to criminal prosecution.
Google, which owns the video-hosting website YouTube, said it would block access to the video in Russia after it received a court order, according to the company’s Russia representative.

The Zamoskvorechye District Court in the Russian capital ruled that access to all websites hosting the videos must be limited.
According to the court’s decision, websites that do not remove the Pussy Riot videos will face administrative penalties, including fines up to 100,000 rubles ($3,000).
Die Menschenrechtsorganisation Article 19 kommentiert:
This decision takes the censoring of critical political voices one step further by moving into the internet realm. The Russian authorities continue to limit free expression to appease certain groups in society, in this case the Russian Orthodox Church, by silencing those voices deemed to be provocative and offensive.
