Beyond eEurope : The main challenges for the European Information Society to 2010 – Public online consultation

2005 – the final year of the eEurope 2005 Action Plan – will provide a good opportunity to consider how European Information Society policy should evolve over the next five years if the EU is to reach its “Lisbon Goals” by 2010. Next year will therefore see a reflection on the new vision of the Information Society that should be put into place at the start of 2006. The Commission will consult with stakeholders and bring forward a new policy agenda, with Member States invited to play an active role in elaborating the EU’s Information Society policy for the coming years. The European Commission has launched a public online consultation on the challenges for the EU’s Information Society policy beyond 2005. The European Commission’s view of the challenges that a European Information Society strategy up to 2010 needs to address are set out in a Commission communication on „Challenges for the European Information Society beyond 2005“ that was adopted on 19 November 2004.
