Am 28. März ist wieder Document Freedom Day. Am DFD wird seit Jahren in vielen Städten an die Vorteile von offenen Standards und offenen Formaten gedacht. In Deutschland finden Veranstaltungen in Düsseldorf (Bei der Jungen Union) und Offenburg statt. Eine schöne Veranstaltung gibt es im Europaparlament in Brüssel mit Vertretern der Free Software Foundation Europe, der EU-Kommission und Communia zum Thema „Open standards in the eBook market“.
The purpose of our Document Freedom Day event is to give voice to the movement for a free information infrastructure, and to highlight the importance of Open Standards and how they impact both business opportunities in the eBook market and universal access to the Public Domain. We are particularly happy that Dr. Carl-Christian BUHR, Member of the Cabinet of Ms Neelie Kroes, European Commission Vice-President for the Digital Agenda, will give the Commission’s views on European policies on standards & interoperability, and that representatives from the French eBook manufacturer Bokeen and the software platform Calibre will talk about their experiences in the eBook market.
Das dazu passende Logo bringt auch kreativ den Document Freedom Day und Datalove zusammen. Es ist mir aber unklar, ob es von der Veranstaltung einen Livestream gibt.
