GPG/PGP, HTTPS now! TrueCrypt etc.)

      2. Hey Douwe. Thanks for your reaction!

Some on-topic feedback: Why did you include FireGPG? There have been gave security issues and the project is discontinued.

IMHO this chapter should be removed, else it simulates a fake sense of privacy.

      3. Hey,

Those security issues where from long time back. The plug-in was updated for Firefox4 while we wrote the book. We are currently looking for a maintainer of the plugin in collaboration with Mozilla.

        But thnx for the notification!
        cheers

    1. „This manual is also to be used in an interactive way. In order to work, it needs to be kept reflected upon and updated. Do get in touch if we missed something, if you want to contribute, or if you just want to get in touch!“

I think it would be helpfull to give more detailed information on how to get in touch. Cause I think I found 2 little mistakes and see now way to report them.

      1. Hey Martin,

You can comment on each page of the online manual at the bottem of the page. And of course; you can edit the book! So just make an account, login and wipe out any mistakes you might find.

        thnx!
        Douwe

      2. I actually was trying the comment but I end up with a white page and don’t see any comment appear.

      3. sorry, sometimes you will have to reload the page, and/or re-login. The booki software needs some love (or some good programmers) in order to function.

  1. Oh, just had a glimpse of it and saw the book tells you how to set up your gmail account with Thunderbird. Wouldn’t it be good to include a disclaimer that gmail does *exactly* what is described by the „unencrypted email“ infografics?

Anyway, I am waiting to see a finished pdf of the german version. I am going to print that out and test it. On my colleagues, some friends and my parents. I do think it’s to much jargon respectivly techbabble. But we’ll see…
