Die freie Software WordPress, die auch für dieses Blog seit sechs Jahren eingesetzt wird, hat nun eine Stiftung bekommen. Die WordPress Foundation hat die Mission, die Weiterentwicklnug von WordPress und die Demokratisierung durch freie Software zu fördern.
The point of the foundation is to ensure free access, in perpetuity, to the projects we support. People and businesses may come and go, so it is important to ensure that the source code for these projects will survive beyond the current contributor base, that we may create a stable platform for web publishing for generations to come. As part of this mission, the Foundation will be responsible for protecting the WordPress, WordCamp, and related trademarks. A 501(c)3 non-profit organization, the WordPress Foundation will also pursue a charter to educate the public about WordPress and related open source software.

Sehr schön! WordPress bietet so viele Möglichkeiten und ist doch in der Handhabung so einfach, dass ich es fast sogar Wolfgang Schäuble zutrauen würde, ein eigenes Blog aufzusetzen – wenn er denn wollte ;-)

Ich gehe doch schwer davon aus, dass die Betonung in Deinem Kommentar auf dem Wort ‘fast’ liegt… ;-)
Stiftungen und Vereine zur Förderung freier Software sind wohl gerade in Mode: Der Foswiki Association e.V. hat seine Gründung auch gerade erfolgreich abgeschlossen. :-)
