Sechs Fragen an die nationalen Standardisierungsgremien
Die Free Software Foundation Europe hat ein Dokument mit sechs Fragen online gestellt, welche sich an nationale Standardisierungsgremien wendet: Six questions to national standardisation bodies. Hintergrund ist der Versuch von Microsoft, das eigene Format MS-OOXML als offenen Standard bei der ISO-Behörde durchegsetzt zu bekommen.
Das sind die Themenbereiche:
1. Application independence?
2. Supporting pre-existing Open Standards?
3. Backward compatibility for all vendors?
4. Proprietary extensions?
5. Dual standards?
6. Legally safe?All these questions should have answers that should be provided by the national standardisation bodies through independent counsel and experts, and in particular not by Microsoft or its business partners, which have a direct conflict of interest on this issue. If there is no good answer to any one of them, a national body should vote no in ISO/IEC.
